Prambanan Temple

Prambanan Temple, built in the 9th century, is Indonesia's largest Hindu temple complex dedicated to the Trimurti, the three great Hindu gods: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Prambanan is a remarkable example of Hindu architecture in Southeast Asia. The central compound features eight main shrines and over 240 smaller ones, all showcasing exquisite bas-reliefs depicting the stories of Hindu epics such as the Ramayana.

The Ramayana Ballet is a must-see event for anyone visiting Prambanan Temple. This ballet brings the epic tale of Ramayana to life through classical dance and music performed against the backdrop of the temple. Performances are typically held in an open-air theatre, with the magnificent temple complex illuminated under the night sky. This setting enhances the ethereal quality of the ballet and creates an unforgettable visual experience.
